SING JOYFULLY

Ps 33:1-10
Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. 2 Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. 4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. 5 The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. 7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses. 8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him. 9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. 10 The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
NIV

Is there any appropriate time not to praise the Lord? Is there any situation we are not supposed to sing joyfully to the Lord? It would appear the truth of the matter is, that because we are the righteous, we are to sing joyfully to the Lord. That has to mean no matter what is going on in our life, we are to not just sing to the Lord, but sing joyfully to him. It is absolutely fitting, that it is right, for us, the upright, to praise him. Sometimes certain events occur in our life when we may not feel like praising God. Maybe there are times when we feel like he is not providing as we think he should. Maybe there are times when we are hurting, either physically or emotionally and our spirit is down. But the fact is we are still considered as the righteous and therefore we are to sing to the Lord, with joy in our hearts. He is always worthy of our praise. He is always worthy of our making music in our hearts directed toward him. He is always worthy of our living with a new song and living life skillfully and shouting for joy. He is always faithful, even when we are not. He loves righteousness and justice. We need to live in his righteousness and his justice, knowing the place we live in full of his unfailing love. He always loves us, never does he fail to love us, even if are going through a rough patch in life, he still loves us. Everything in this earth and above it was made by the words of his mouth. He spoke everything into existence, his power is so supreme we may not be able to completely understand it. But when we see life from the eternal perspective, it puts the temporal things of life into a correct perspective. We cannot focus our life around the temporal because it is not eternal. Because God created all that is created he is, not was and is and is to be, he simply is. That is why we can sing to him with joy in our hearts because he has not only created us, but has redeemed, us bought us back, paid the price for our lives, our eternal lives. When we look into the eternal there is God. When we look into the temporal, there is God. Where can we go from his presence? So we sing, so we make music, we rejoice in our heart because we are his and he is our God. Sing joyfully!
