PERFECTION

Ps 19:7-11
7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. 8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes. 9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous. 10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. 11 By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.
NIV

The law of the Lord, what does that mean? We should first get an understanding as to what this law means. According to the original language the law is the torah, which means the Law of Moses. However, we were just looking at the law of nature, all that was created shows men the glory of God. Then we have the law of grace in the New Testament. The other thing is that the original word translated reviving really means to turn back or converting and some other translations use. So all that God does, in his creation, his laws and his grace are meant to bring people back to him, to revive them from their dead position, to give them new life.  The statutes are sure, or in the original the testimony of the Lord is sure making wise the simple. That which God has to say about himself, in all the ways that he says it, through nature, the Law of Moses and the law of grace, his Son, Jesus, makes even the simplest person a wise person. That puts to rest the need for advanced studies and degrees in theology, for God reveals himself by his own method to all mankind. Consider over the centuries before any seminary, or bible college existed, God revealed himself to men who never even attended any kind of school. What school did Noah attend? What education did David have other the knowing how to shepherd sheep? Peter knew how to fish, that is all. Yet time and time again God revealed himself to people, simple people and made them wise. The mandate of the Lord is right, his ways rejoice our heart. The idea is that our ways will not give our heart cause to rejoice, for our ways lead us to destruction. His ways, his mandate leads us to everlasting life, and that is what we rejoice in. The divine law of God, all of them, the law of nature, the Law of Moses and the law of grace, Jesus, right, or pure, or clear, thus the word radiant and it gives light to our eyes, or enlightens our sight into knowing God. The ordinances or judgements of the Lord are always right, he never makes a bad call, and he never misjudges a person’s heart. We have to know this is the most precious, most valued idea we could ever have. Knowing God, being his children, having him as our Lord and Savior is greater than anything the world has to offer. No amount of wealth or pleasure can match what God is in our life. When he tells us that where our treasure is there also is our heart he is taking about this concept. What we place value on, the highest value is where we spend our time and efforts to obtain. Are we seeking after the temporary things of this world, or are we seeking God? We cannot do both, we cannot live with a divided heart, it will burst. So we seek God, we seek him as our most treasured Lord and Savior. His ways are perfect.
