TELL OTHERS
Ps 145:1-7
145:1 A psalm of praise. Of David.
I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. 2 Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever.
3 Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. 4 One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts. 5 They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works.  6 They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds. 7 They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.
NIV

This psalm has so much within, it might be best to take a little of it at a time. There are some powerful words regarding the Lord and of mankind. The very first words are about what mankind should be about. We need to exalt our God the King. We need to praise his name for ever and ever. Each and every day we have the breath of life within our lungs we should use them to raise our voice in praise and honor, lifting up his name, forever and ever. Who else is greater than the Lord? Who else is worthy of more praise then the Lord? If we were to study his word all of our life, we would never be able to fathom his greatness. What we can fathom, what we can see and experience is his great works. We have had his works provide for us, heal us, lead us, and the greatest of works, effect a change in our life. His works saved us from the penalty of death. His works brought us out of the darkness into his light. It would take a book to enumerate all his works in our life over the years. However, we are supposed to do just that so we can commend his works to another. We are to witness, to testify to others about his wonderful works in our life. Then those who we testify to will be able to tell of the Lords mighty acts. They will be able to speak of the glorious splendor of his majesty. But we must first tell, if we do not tell, they will not know, and if they do not know, they cannot speak of the works of the Lord. This telling appears to be to the next generation, the youth, our children. No matter our age, our children are still the youth, the next generation. Yet it seems appropriate to tell all others, everyone we can about the greatness of the Lord and his mighty works. He is the one who started a work in us and he is the one who will bring it to completion. So often we talk about what kind of works our faith is supposed to muster up, but it is the works of the Lord which is what we are to witness about. We need to meditate on his works, considering them all, how he has done so much for us, within us, and through us. Then we will have all our thoughts together about his works that we will be able to tell of the power of his awesome works and we will be able to proclaim his great deeds. Because we speak up, because we testify, because we can tell all he has done, they will be able to celebrate his abundant goodness and joyfully sing of his righteousness. At least that is the plan, which is what he has set before us to do. We cannot be silent, we cannot contain the works of the Lord. That would be selfish, self-centered. The time is now, let us lift our voice in praise to the Lord. Let us tell others.
