PRAISE AND MORE PRAISE THE LORD
Ps 150
150:1
Praise the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. 2 Praise
him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. 3 Praise
him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, 4
praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, 5
praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. 6 Let
everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD.
NIV
The last of the psalms and it is all about the praising of the Lord.
There is praise in every way and with many instruments for this type of praise.
As we saw only a limited number of instruments in other psalm, now the whole of
all that was available is used to praise the Lord. So it is alright to have a
full orchestra, or just a few of them, yet the whole purpose is to praise the
Lord. If then when the instruments have finished with their praise, why do some
feel the need to applaud them? Why the applause for something that is praising
the Lord? Do we applaud each other when we praise the Lord in song? The idea is
all while all the instruments are praising the Lord, so should all of us who
have breathe. The instruments are not a show, for our entertainment, they are
for praising the Lord. Everything is to praise the Lord, we are to praise the
Lord. It is not have wonderful they did, it is how wonderful we all are doing
when we praise the Lord. We should be praising his surpassing greatness and his
acts of power. We should be praising him in his sanctuary, which of course
means within ourselves for we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Yet God sits
in the heavens in his sanctuary. However, we are to praise him all the time in
every aspect of our life, with every breathe we take. Praise the Lord. Praise
his Holy Name. Praise the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Praise him for
he has saved us, he has justified us, he has redeemed us. His mighty acts have
surrounded us. He has healed us, provided for us, directed us, instructed us, disciplined
us, and given us light to see the path we are to walk on. Praise the Lord.
