Reigns Forever

REIGNS FOREVER

Ps 146
146:1
Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul. 2 I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. 3 Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save. 4 When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.
5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God, 6 the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them — the LORD, who remains faithful forever. 7 He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets prisoners free, 8 the LORD gives sight to the blind, the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down, the LORD loves the righteous. 9 The LORD watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.
10 The LORD reigns forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations.
Praise the LORD.
NIV

There is a choice every person must make at some point in their life, before death takes hold of the body. The choice is to be either a mortal or an immortal man. The fact is mortal men cannot save themselves much less anyone else. They fact is that all of us on the day of our last breathe and our spirit departs, our body goes to the grave. All the plans, all our efforts to gain whatever we desired to gain becomes of no use at all. All our plans come to nothing. Now there is a different between those who are mortal and those of us who have chosen to become immortal. We have been born again into an eternal life in the presence of our Lord. Those who refuse to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior remain mortal. The point is we cannot put any trust in the way mortal men think. Our trust is in the Lord. He is the only one who can actually save us, who is faithful forever to his word. He upholds us when thing become difficult. He provides us with our needs. He has already set us free from the bondage of sin and its penalty, death. He has given us sight, and insight into the things to come, our eternal future. That insight makes the aches and pain of this life as only temporary little inconveniences. God lifts us up, because we humble ourselves before him. We know he is God and we are mere man, we have no pride in our humanity. He is our maker and we are the work of his hands. What are our accomplishments compared to his? What pride can we take in the work of our hands when we consider the work of his hands? Can we make the earth or the heavens, can we speak anything into existence? Can we control the weather? Can we make the sun to raise or to set? Whatever we build will crumble someday, whatever God builds will last forever. The Lord watches over us and sustains us. But he does frustrate the way of the wicked. Why then would we want to be in any partnership at all in any way with the wicked? Let us remain faithful to the path God has set us on, walking with him. He is the Lord and he is to be praised. He will reign forever and ever, in our life, and in all creation. Therefore he has set aside our mortal lives and given us an immortal life in which he reigns forever.
