PSALMS
REJOICE AND AGAIN REJOICE
Ps 98
98:1 A psalm.
Sing to the LORD a new song, or he has done marvelous things; his right
hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. 2 The LORD has made his
salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations. 3 He has
remembered his love and his faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends
of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
4 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song
with music; 5 make music to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound
of singing, 6 with trumpets and the blast of the ram's horn — shout for joy
before the LORD, the King.
7 Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who
live in it. 8 Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together
for joy; 9 let them sing before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth. He
will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with equity.
NIV
It would seem the psalmist is speaking about Jesus although he writes
far before the time of Christ. This does point to the inspiration of the
writings by God. He surely has everything in mind and as there is no past or
future with God being always in the present, he has revealed his salvation. He
has made it known to the nations. We are living in a linier time frame where
Jesus came to the earth several thousands of our years ago, but thousands of
years before he came to earth, the psalmist writes of him. Having the
assistance of time on our favor, we to can sing a new song. Once we lived in
the darkness and void of the knowledge of the salvation of the LORD, but know we
can sing his new song for he has done a marvelous thing in our life. His right
hand and holy arm have worked salvation in us for him. He has revealed the
truth of his salvation to us. He always remembers his love for us and his
faithfulness, to Israel and also now to us. One day in our linier time the
whole earth will see the salvation of our God. Jesus will appear in the Eastern
sky, riding upon the clouds, the rider of the white horse and all the earth
will see the truth of God. Every knee will bow, some out of reverence, others
out of fear. Until that day, we shout for joy to the LORD, we burst into jubilant
song with music. Maybe not with our voice, as some have that gift, but we will
sing in our heart, it is jubilant. We have seen the hand of God at work in our
life. Healings, miracles, provisions and direction. We have heard his voice
speaking into our spirit, we have heard his voice speaking into our ears, and
our heart is filled with jubilance for God has done marvelous things for us, in
us and through us. We shout for joy, we have no gloom or doom, we are filled
with gladness, and our extremely optimistic about our future, both the rest of
our time on earth, and the rest of time in eternity. We can see the earth and
all that is in it rejoicing, all that earth is his and all that is in it. The wildlife
live with joy for the LORD, they know his hand, and they live at his pleasure
and for ours. The rain, wind, sun and moon are in the hands of God, all
creation rejoices because of him. We rejoice because he is God and we are his people.
He will judge the world in righteousness and we have already been judged holy
and blameless in his sight because we are in Christ. Why would we not rejoice?
We have every reason to rejoice.
