HOW AWESOME IS OUR GOD
Ps 68:21-35

21 Surely God will crush the heads of his enemies, the hairy crowns of those who go on in their sins. 22 The Lord says, "I will bring them from Bashan; I will bring them from the depths of the sea, 23 that you may plunge your feet in the blood of your foes, while the tongues of your dogs have their share."
24 Your procession has come into view, O God, the procession of my God and King into the sanctuary. 25 In front are the singers, after them the musicians; with them are the maidens playing tambourines. 26 Praise God in the great congregation; praise the LORD in the assembly of Israel. 27 There is the little tribe of Benjamin, leading them, there the great throng of Judah's princes, and there the princes of Zebulun and of Naphtali.
28 Summon your power, O God; show us your strength, O God, as you have done before. 29 Because of your temple at Jerusalem kings will bring you gifts. 30 Rebuke the beast among the reeds, the herd of bulls among the calves of the nations. Humbled, may it bring bars of silver. Scatter the nations who delight in war. 31 Envoys will come from Egypt; Cush will submit herself to God.
32 Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth, sing praise to the Lord, Selah  33 to him who rides the ancient skies above, who thunders with mighty voice. 34 Proclaim the power of God, whose majesty is over Israel, whose power is in the skies. 35 You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people.
Praise be to God!
NIV

Within the context of the whole of this psalm it appears much of it seems prophetic about God in his sanctuary. From the language we could see the new city of Jerusalem as his sanctuary. There is verbiage in the Revelation to John about the kings of the earth bringing their gifts. There is certainly language about the heads of the enemies of God being crushed, those who refuse to listen to God, his truth, and go on in their sins. God will bring them from everywhere to stand judgment. Again in the Revelation to John it speaks about the sea giving up its dead. We cannot image plunging our feet in their blood, but metaphorically it could mean that we stand victorious over them because we are covered by the blood of Christ. When Jesus comes in all his glory there is going to be a great procession. This picture should give us reason to consider just how powerful our God is. Sometimes we might get to casual with God. There certainly are believers we have come in contact with who are way too casual with God, almost thinking of him as their personal God, he is simply there for their beck and call, so to speak. Others we have known cannot seem to fathom his power, or consider who they are in relationship with God. His power is so mighty it is almost impossible to know just how mighty. We are convinced that if he were to stop thinking about us we would simply vanish in thin air. Maybe he does not micro manage every aspect of this world, say like the weather, earthquakes, volcanos or tsunamis. Then maybe he does. Maybe every lighting bold, every drop of rain is from his command. What about our lives? Does he have power over our daily activities? He gives us certain freedoms to live as we want, but that freedom is from his command. He allows us to make certain choices, even when they are the wrong ones. But everything will come into his view. His procession is so awesome, he is such a mighty God that we need to truly humble ourselves before him. We can see on such a small scale the majesty with how the royals of England are treated. God’s procession will outshine anything humans can produce. He will rebuke the beast from the reeds, speaks of his power over Satan. We have nothing to free from the enemy of God and of our soul. God is in his heaven, he is on his throne and all of earth will bow before him. Nothing stands unless God ordains it. Yet with all his power he has send power to his people. We have been sent the Holy Spirit with power. He empowers our life, he gives us the strength the go on. He leads us into all the truth of God. He brings all his gives, all his fruit, all his armor for us to live with. All of it belongs to God, but he manifest those things in our lives. But we must humble ourselves. We have nothing without God. We do not provide those things, we do not produce those things, and we have nothing but a puny little life without God. Our life is meaningless without God. Let us sing to God, let us raise our voice, our heart and our hands in praise and thanksgiving to our God. Let us proclaim his mighty power wherever we are. God is awesome.
