House of worship

DEVOTION
PROVERBS
 HOUSE OF WORSHIP

Prov 24:3-4
3 By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; 4 through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.
NIV

We might be tempted to think in the material, but that is only temporal and has no value for the person of God. However when we think that the house or temple who God built, we have to think of ourselves.

Gen 1:26-27
26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
NIV

What man in his own wisdom could build such a house? It is only by the wisdom of God that we have been made, created, built and the purpose was so we would bring glory to God and be his temple. It is incredible to consider God spoke the whole of the universe into existence. He spoke the whole of earth with all its mountains, valleys, canyons, and vegetation of unnumbered amounts, all the living things, in the air, on the ground and in the water. But when he decided to build us, he did not speak us into existence, he formed us with his own hands from the ground, the mud or clay, getting his hands dirty, as it were, and then knelt over us and breathed his very breath into our nostrils. God built us with his own hands. What wisdom! He built us to be his temple.

2 Cor 6:16
16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."
NIV

We are the house that has been built by wisdom. Once we understand that, one we comprehend the fact we are the temple of God, through that knowledge every aspect of our being is filled with rare and beautiful treasures. These treasures are indeed Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Our heart is filled with Jesus, we have given our heart to him. He has sent the Spirit to fill us, to empower us, to guide us into all truth. The truth gives us power beyond human ability The Spirit brings his gifts and his fruit into his temple. What greater treasures could we be filled with? Let us rejoice in being the temple of God. Let us live in that knowledge and understanding, presenting our bodies, his temple, as a living sacrifice.

Rom 12:1-2
12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God — this is your spiritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.
NIV

His perfect will is for us to be his temple, a house of worship.
