Do it

DO IT

Ex 4:13-17
13 But Moses said, "O Lord, please send someone else to do it." 14 Then the LORD's anger burned against Moses and he said, "What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and his heart will be glad when he sees you. 15 You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. 16 He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him. 17 But take this staff in your hand so you can perform miraculous signs with it."
NIV

This is not really an excuse, but simply an attempt to no do what God wants him to do. This is a plea to find another to go instead of him. Why doesn’t Moses want to go back to Egypt? Does he think the same Pharaoh is in charge and he will be prosecuted for the crime of murder? Does he think the Hebrews will remember want he did and they simply hate him so they would reject him completely, dismiss him and in fact give him over to the Egyptians to rid themselves of him forever? Just the thought they would not believe he had a personal encounter with God could be all it is. So often when we testify to such an encounter we are met with a certain amount of cynicism or unbelief even from other believers. Sure we might not actual have a face to face burning bush miracles after miracles including hearing the voice of God, having miraculous healings, receiving supernatural helps from the hand of God such as having the wealth of the ungodly handed to us, might seem a little over the top for many to believe, mainly since they have never experienced such encounters. The Israelites have not experienced any encounters with God, in fact, they are living totally under severe treatment by unbelievers. If Moses shows up with miracles from God, they simply may not believe he is from God and dismiss him. So please God, send someone else. When this passage states God anger burned, we would think, watch out. But that is not the case, he assures Moses it is going to work out, that he has Aaron on the way to be the spoke person for Moses standing in the stead of God. God will speak the words into Moses who will tell Aaron and he will speak them to the Israelites and to Pharaoh. It appears the point here is that God will use the person he wants to use to get the job done he wants to get done. When he calls us to a task, it might be better to just get on with it, rather than to go through this whole process that Moses did. Come on, we have had so much happen from the hand of God. How could we ever refuse or attempt to give some excuse or reason why he should send someone else to do what he has called us to do? But what about those who have not had so much happen from the hand of God? Are they ready to jump when he calls? It would seem any believer would move forward when God calls them. It would seem any believer would desire to do whatever God wants of them. But we have the example of Moses here for a reason. It is possible any believer might be hesitant or reluctant to make such a large change in their lives as God is wanting Moses to do. But one way or another Moses was going to do want God wanted him to do. This has surely have to be the same with us. One way of another God is going to get us to do what he desires us to do. Hopefully we will respond before his anger burns. So we might as well just do it.
