Remember

DEVOTION
THE GOSPEL OF LUKE
REMEMBER

Luke 24:1-8
24:1 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.'"  8 Then they remembered his words.
NIV

It has begun, he is risen, he is risen indeed. It started with these women, but we know this became something far larger than anyone could have ever suspected, because this is God at work among his creation. God made sure these women understood what had happened, that Jesus had told them what was to happen and it did exactly as he said it would, and they remembered. They were given insight by messengers from God. We can be sure that any insight we have today about the spiritual truths of God are given to us by either his messengers, angels, or by himself as the Holy Spirit, who he has told us will lead us into all truth. The simple fact is Jesus is the flesh form of God who came to earth, died, was buried and came back to life on the third day. The angels made sure the women knew this to be true and they were now understanding this truth and we will see they went to tell the others. God reveals truth to us and we also understand. There are some mysteries we tell ourselves, but then we would have to say that the Spirit does not lead us into all truth, but to only some truth. But if we agreed that he only leads us into some truth, leaving other truths to be a mystery, then we would be saying the scripture has lied to us. This could lead us down a very wrong path. Because the Spirit does lead us into all truth, because God made sure these women understood the truth and because he continues to make sure we understand the truth, we need to know there is no mystery to anything concerning God and our relationship with him. We know all we need to know about God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. What we do not know or understand yet, the Spirit will make sure we do. We can have confidence that everything he has said happened and is going to happen, did and will happen. The messengers from God made sure these women understood that what Jesus said would happen, happened. There should be no doubt in our minds and hearts that everything else Jesus said, either himself or through his messengers will come true. This includes everything concerning both this world and us. We have all the information we will every need, but should we not remember all of it, the Spirit will speak to us and we will remember.

Addendum:

Because he lives, I can face tomorrow
Because he lives, all fear is gone
Because I know, I know,  he holds my future
And life is worth the living just because he lives.
