Out With the Old In With the New

DEVOTION
HEBREWS
OUT WITH THE OLD IN WITH THE NEW
Heb 8:7-13
7 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. 8 But God found fault with the people and said: "The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. 9 It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them,   declares the Lord. 10 This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 11 No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. 12 For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more." 13 By calling this covenant "new," he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.

A big hunk of scripture, but all one thought, away with the old and in with the new. The old just was really established to prove to men they could not abide by it and that they really needed the new. What good is a law if it is not actually within the moral center of a person? Just look at the highways and byways of our and see all the cars speeding far above the limit, even those with the fish on the back. Does every citizen of this country abide by every law? Does any citizen abide by every one of the laws? God law could not be upheld by the people one hundred percent of the time, and thus under that law, condemnation occurred. The law is so extensive it take volumes of books to contain it all and thousands upon thousands lawyers and judges to understand it and rule on it, it is even taught in universities, but still no one actually knows it all. God’s law had become this to men, trying their best to learn it, understand it and abide by it, but it was too much for them. God knew they needed a new covenant, a new agreement. We need this new covenant this new agreement. Yes his law is written on our hearts, we know what is right and what is wrong, we know what a moral, and spiritual center is, and feel it deep within us. We know what God expects of us, without anyone every teaching us. Yes, we parse the scriptures seeking to find truths we can understand. We teach it, we preach it, we study it, we learn from it, but in the bare face of reality we know God deep within us without any teaching, preaching, studying and learning. All men do, some bury it so deep due to their human desires, God has made sure all men know who he really is. It is like an awakening when men finally feel God within them turn from those desires toward him. It is being born again, only with knowing God inside, sensing his presence, understanding the need for Jesus, understands the truth of this covenant. Being forgiven simply because God said so, because of the sacrifice Jesus made. We are so blessed God declared out with the old and in with the new.
