DEVOTION 1 JOHN LIVING IN THE TRUTH 1 John 4:13-16 13 We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. NIV This is another one of those firsthand accounts of someone having actually seen Jesus and testifying that Jesus was sent from the Father to be our Savior. Do we what any more proof? Well we have it, because he has given us the Spirit. It is the Spirit who comes to us and introduces the truth into our beings in the first place. We could, like so many in the world, hear the truth and refuse it, but once the Spirit convicts us of our false thinking and opens our minds and hearts to the truth, than we know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that he died for our sins, and is the one and only way to restore a very broken relationship with God. It is sad how some people even refuse to pay attention to the Spirit and refuse to listen, refuse to accept the truth about Jesus Christ. But praise God we did pay attention, we felt the Spirit speaking to our hearts and we understand what needed to be done. We knew we had to confess to God that we were living as a sinner, as disobedient children. We knew we had to ask him to forgive us and accept his provision for being restored to our rightful place. We also know now that we have to continue to rely in Jesus for our salvation, that we will never attain such a perfect state that we could be in the presence of God without Jesus standing next to us. We know we have to rely on the love of God each and every day of our lives for without it we would be lost forever. It is a wonderful feeling knowing that God lives in us and that we live in God, all because of Jesus. How great life is, knowing that God loves us so much, and that he provides our every need, and that he will be with us forever. True we could turn our back and walk away, but how foolish that would be, no how stupid that would be. Even though God loves people so much he does only calls then foolish for not accepting him, it might be more actuate to call them stupid, dumb and darn right wrong. But nevertheless we know the truth and have the truth and live in the truth and the truth lives in us.
