Father knows best

DEVOTION
THE REVELATION
FATHER KNOWS BEST

Rev 10:5-7
5 Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven. 6 And he swore by him who lives for ever and ever, who created the heavens and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it, and said, "There will be no more delay! 7 But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets."
NIV

Once again a passage of this revelation to John has been seen, or interpreted by so many scholars throughout the ages who all differ. Many of their thoughts are certainly based upon they time in history and how man considered things in general. A person of the fifteenth century certainly viewed certain prophesies differently than a person of the ninth or twentieth century would. Although the word of God has never changed it has been translated with slightly different words according to the vernacular of that age. The differing opinions here are in regard to the mystery of God that will be accomplished and as to there will be no more delay. Yet there lies a lesson for us. First we must understand that although we study the scriptures with all due diligence we may never understand all the mystery which is contained in this passage. Truly the Holy Spirit leads us into all truth so we can understand Gods plan our salvation, which is the one truth we must know fully. There are many who explore, investigate, and study with all their ability the scriptures who approach them with intellect, while others approach with spirituality. Both may find all the answers, the truth which is clearly defined for all to understand. But here there is a mystery which has been kept a mystery which no man, no matter how they study the scriptures, will know until the sound of the seventh trumpet. Any guess to what this mystery is can only be just that, a guess. We surely can know this angel form previously described to us is lifting his hand toward God, giving him all the praise and honor he so richly deserves. But his words regarding there shall be no more delay is the point in which we find such disagreement among those scholars. Has the time come for the end of mankind when the seventh trumpet is sounded? Is this refer to the Judgment Day of God? Or should we see it as for what it simply says? This mystery which God has been keeping a secret from all of mankind is going to be revealed with the sounding of the seventh trumpet. Now some would say this this mystery which will be revealed was already revealed through the prophets and thus will refer especially to the prophet Daniel to fill in the details of this revelation. But that too may be a misguided concept, not that Daniel does not deal with much the same as this revelation, but that this mystery was revealed to him. This is not what the words mean. What is meant here, at least to us, is that God will reveal this mystery to mankind when the seventh trumpet blasts in the same manner he revealed other mysteries, which are no longer a mystery because they have been revealed through prophets. This would mean he will use prophets once again or someone who hears from him to announce to the people this mystery, when the time of the seventh trumpet is sounded. At the sound of this trumpet which we will see a little later this mystery is going to be revealed, which John tells us all about it. Yet what he describes still seems to be somewhat a mystery because this is still a revelation given to John and the actually time of the seventh trumpet has not come. So as God holds back that mystery until the trumpet blasts, the revelation may be a representation of that mystery, but it is still going to be a mystery. These are things to come and as they come, if we are still here, we will understand them completely as this is when God will reveal this mystery through his chosen man of God as he did with the prophets. What we do know is that God will accomplish his complete plan for us, whether we are aware of it, or not. Those things he has shown us through the power of the Holy Spirit we know fully with complete understanding. He has not kept anything already written as a secret from us. But there is at least this one truth he has kept to himself until the time is compete and he decides to reveal it. God will accomplish all his plan for us, in our daily lives as well as in our eternal lives. We might think we have some plans for ourselves, but in all reality it is the plan of God for us which is what we will experience. We might try to force our plans into action, but he orders our footsteps. This is always about his plan. This is always about his ultimate authority over his creation, us. This is why Lucifer was cast out of heaven, because he challenged the authority of God, thinking himself more of himself as he ought to have. We too much always submit to the knowledge of God for our lives. Father knows best.
