Depends on Who

DEVOTION
ROMANS
DEPENDS ON WHO

Rom 3:1-4
3:1 What advantage, then, is there in being a Jew, or what value is there in circumcision? 2 Much in every way! First of all, they have been entrusted with the very words of God.
3 What if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith nullify God's faithfulness? 4 Not at all! Let God be true, and every man a liar. As it is written:
"So that you may be proved right when you speak
and prevail when you judge."
NIV

It would seem to me, there have been times when I may have looked to myself thinking, “How smart I am to have accepted Christ as my Lord”. Then there have been times when I have thought the opposite, that is, “why would God choose me?” To be a person of faith or to be a person with no faith, surely does not make any difference to who God is and what He has done for His creation. And if I take that to my relationship with Him, in light of verse 3, can I claim it to be any better because of my faithfulness to Him? I dare say not at all! His faithfulness to me does not depend on my faithfulness to Him. God is not reactionary, He is actionary. Yet, still I cannot go about living my life without regard to Him, no not at all, I must do all I can to find out what pleases my Lord, and my first and foremost thought is I cannot even begin to please Him without faith. However I am back to this, everything does not depend on me, and it depends on Him. After all, in light of Romans 12:3 when He say, “the measure of faith God has given you”, it shows me even my faith is not of my own making, but that of God’s grace to me. I even have to depend on Him for faith. No matter how I look at this, I have to depend on him because He is faithful to the end. He is the only one who I can depend on to be faithful all the time, every time, no matter what time it is.
